The Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group, Inc (TEEG) has been working to meet the needs of low-income individuals and families since its inception in 1988. During this time, the agency has developed innovative programming to meet the unique needs of the families we serve in northeast Connecticut, primarily serving the towns of Thompson, Woodstock, and Pomfret. Our agency mission is to empower individuals and families to reach their highest level of independent living by leveraging community resources to meet client needs. Guided by a board of directors, TEEG’s vision is as follows: Our vision is a community that aspires to care for and support one another.

TEEG offers several basic need programs including emergency and ongoing food assistance, heating assistance, camp scholarships, back-to-school backpack assistance, state and federal benefits assistance, holiday giving and general case management, including those who experience emergencies. We are the Youth Service Bureau for the towns of Thompson, Pomfret, Woodstock, and Putnam. Additionally, all residents of our area, regardless of income, have access to our community education and enrichment programs including Parent Education, Parent/Child Playgroup, Early Childhood, Youth Services, Attendance Mentoring, Juvenile Review Board (restorative youth justice), Anger Management, and Smart Recovery. We operate the Pomfret Senior Center, located in Pomfret, and open to all area seniors. As the agency has grown, TEEG has established itself as a vital resource to community residents. We currently employ 12 full-time staff, 5 part-time staff, and per diem (who participate in our youth mentoring programs).
